Essential Ashtanga: Discovering the inner practice

Through practice and discussion, this workshop will give you a theoretical model
to understand the body matrix as applied to asana practice. This workshop
forms the basis for other techniques workshops.

In this workshop, we will talk about the theory of hatha yoga and how this
philosophy views the spine as a central spiritual channel to raise consciousness.
We will explore the idea of hatha yoga as a ladder to Patanjali’s yoga of
meditation.

By using exercises that bring awareness to the spine and spinal muscles, you will
learn the variety of movements available in the spine, and how to create greater
movement and stability in the body.

We will explore the relationship between the appendicular and axial skeleton, the
bandhas, the muscles of respiration, and the movements of the spine to create a
matrix that will help you understand how alignment and movement harmonize to
provide the basis for vinyasa, the foundation of the ashtanga practice.

Morning session $35

Afternoon session $40

Both sessions $65
