The Art of Ashtanga Yoga

This class is for those who have a regular practice in the Ashtanga system. Receive expert, inspiring individual instruction in a group setting. David has been conducting daily Mysore classes for more than 14 years. He shares his knowledge generously with care and passion--not to be missed! 3:30-5:15pm ($30- $40 after 10/5)
Ashtanga Foundations- “In-depth fundamentals of Ashtanga Yoga
This class is appropriate for folks of all different levels ranging from those that are curious about Ashtanga Yoga, to an intermediate student who remembers that the fundamentals are the most rewarding, advanced and challenging aspects of practice.
We'll look separately at the handful of principle ashtanga techniques: the art of inhaling and exhaling, bandha, vinyasa, dhyana, dristi), and see how they all support each other and lead to what Guruji called the 'state of the asana' which refers to dynamic, rooted, aligned, and enjoyable asana work. 5:30-7:15pm ($35-$45 after 10/5)

Saturday, Nov. 6th
Intermediate Series Instructed.
This will be an energetic, challenging flowing session working with the postures of second series. There will plenty of instruction, ideas and inspiration for charging your practice! We'll explore backbending principles and look at Kapotasana in detail as well as other favorites such as eka pada sirsasana, pincha mayurasana, and karandavasana. This class is intended for students who either practice or are learning 2nd series but serious, adventurous students who have a strong foundation may also join.

Ashtanga Foundations
Instructed half primary series with in-depth explorations of the asanas. This class will continue and build upon the Friday night session. We'll continue to apply the basic techniques that lead to Ashtanga Yoga's characteristic flowing, grounded, breath and movement induced meditation. Great for teachers and students of all levels.

The Bhakti Bridge
Chanting and Pranayama
We'll explore how Ashtanga Yoga is before all else a practice of Bhakti or devotional Yoga. We'll use a combination of pranayama and sound through vocal exercises, mantra, sutra's chanting, and song.

Full Primary Series with Pranayama and Chanting
a traditional counted vinyasa class followed by a short separate pranayama practice and dhyana (meditation) through sound, vocal work and mantras.
